Does xgboost supports a mixture of gblinear and gbtree boosting consequence?

I know that the xgboost supports both linear and tree as the base learner. I am wondering if the xgboost supports a mixture of linear and tree model in the same boosting consequence? For example, may I have: trees - linear model - trees - linear model as my boosting consequence?
